What went into the character’s design and why? Be specific.
When I was first started to plan Lyall's character, I had just found out about WoLF, and while I was reluctant to draw canines and wolves again, my brain just jumped on ideas and I couldn't stop aaahhh. I always wanted to create a realistic wolf character but I didn't quite want a super complex design (for the sake of replication and possibly animation) so I settled on something that was pretty, minimalist? I tend to be a person that makes dark and monochromatic coats (see Ceto pfft). For me, I don't typically have a set way of making characters. Sometimes its name and personality first and sometimes its design first. For Lyall, it was kind of a mix of both. I started with his design, and like stated before I wanted something simple that would be a bit easier on the eyes (and hand) to draw. I already had in mind a type of character he would be; someone that others could rely on and even have some playful banter with, almost like a wingman, that sort of deal. Though he might have ended up as this awkward Theta guy that likes to make funny faces and fight people??? I don't think there have been enough instances where Lyall could really showcase his sidekick like persona but I think that's an explanation more suited to the next question ahahahahahahahahahahah. Anyways, coming up with his design was the hardest part because I have no clue how to make simple designs, let alone wolf designs. I had to browse through google pictures to get an idea of what kind of design I would like. And then I realized that I forgot how to draw wolves, so I spent another few days just learning anatomy again (which in fact I should still be learning anatomy because that stuff is horrible on my app art agdskjga). Eventually I came up with his current design, there were a couple of drafts that I made before the final, but majority of them were so terrible that I scrapped them before they were even considered for his character. Lyall's name was a bit easier, I found the name Lyall which means "shield wolf" and that coincidentally fits well with my general image of him being a dependable guy.Recount some of the important parts of their history. What are your feelings about their history up to this point? Think “Director’s Cut.”
Lyall's pre-group history was pretty... normal? To some extent at least. Lyall never had to face any life changing events when he was young, and to be honest, I don't believe Lyall would regret anything in his early childhood (until he was like an adolescent or something tbh). Some of the more prominent points to Lyall's pre-group history is his first serious fight with his brother Otsoko. It really solidified the rift that was starting to grow between them, and while they did get closer as packmates, it wasn't like they could always count on each other as brothers. They hold respect for each other as opponents and sparring partners, but any kind of sibling bond is severed. With this happening however, Lyall isn't really fazed by it; it feels more like an inevitable outcome that he has to accept. As for his group history, I'm pretty happy with his character development so far. The Wraith plot arc with Scribble's Kai was a pretty big catalyst in Lyall's history but I was sad to see Scribble go so soon waaaahhh. Even though it was a short part of Lyall's history, I feel like it still holds a lot of significance to him, seeing as Kai was like the first wolf outside of Howahkan that Lyall has met. On another note, I think so far Lyall has found his own little niche in Howahkan. He was born into the pack and knows where he is supposed to be and what he is supposed to do. Lyall is a bit of a follower at times because he always wants to serve the pack (although maybe a bit too much) but I think at his current rank, Lyall has become this kind of take-it-easy guy with an underlying hint of urgency to complete his tasks. Also one word; cereal. What does the future hold for your character? Throw out some speculation or plot ideas without giving away the entire goose. ;3
Ahahahaha I don't know how to fill out this part with at least 200 words and minimal goose giving. All I can say that everything is still pretty up in the air for Lyall at the moment. I have a couple of things planned for him and some of their names have been mentioned once in a blue moon in an RP or two with others. I have been thinking (for a long time XD) about giving Marrok and Otsoko a proper introduction to WoLF (and if anyone wants to hear me out on my not-so-grand-and-kind-of-floppy-tbh scheme, hit me up on skype or on notes or something because im going to just be dying here in my corner as I type things up and plot). Marrok and Otsoko will likely become sibling adopts/tryouts. I was a bit hesitant on letting Marrok be a sibling adopt as well but I've found a somewhat plausible idea for him that relates back to Lyall. Okay, anyways, enough sibling rambling. I kind of want to build a few more friendships for him, Lyall needs some wolves to just sit and chat with, as well as a few sparring partners in Howahkan, and I feel like Lyall should meet a couple more wolves outside of his pack just to get a feel for the world outside the swamp (maybe RP with someone from Onni ;D). Also, not going to say much on this topic again but; cereal. Cereal is definitely a possibility. How does it feel to really delve into a character? I hope you enjoyed reading about my character!
